The Motor City Boxing Club
Coach Don Nelson's dream of opening a boxing club in Oshawa became a reality in 1993. Don, Bill Ford and other friends, built our first club from scratch at 716 Wilson Road in Oshawa. In 1995, we moved to our current location at 475 Salisbury Street. With the help of a lot of good people along the way, the support of an entire city and the good fortune to have had some very talented young people walk through our doors Motor City is now one the most respected boxing clubs in Canada.
As a not-for-profit organization, our mission has always been to promote and develop the sport of amateur boxing in the Oshawa area. We take young people with raw talent and transform them into skilled amateur fighters, capable of competing on an international level. Although our club is strictly competitive, we encourage others to participate through coaching, officiating and assisting our club through volunteer activities. Our members now range from age 11 to people in their 60's.
We follow strictly the rules and ethics of amateur boxing in our workouts and in our conduct as representatives of our club and our sport. Our motto when we go to tournaments and club shows is simply; "We Come To Fight". That means fairly, within the rules, and with all our heart.
As the following pages will attest, our club has done well since first opening. We dedicate this site to our competitors, coaches, this great sport, and all the people who have helped us in the community: the City of Oshawa, our members, and the local business community.
